Tikal Construction Ltd was founded in 1987 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The company moved west and was incorporated in British Columbia in March 2001. From our home base in Mission BC, Tikal primarily operates in BC but also manages facilities emergencies and upgrades across the country for clients. The name Tikal comes from the jungles of northern Guatemala where our founder travelled during his carpentry apprenticeship years. The Mayan city of Tikal has impressive temples that were built more than 500 years ago and stand strong today as a motivation for us to build well for future generations.
After more than 35 years in the business, safe building practices remain a top priority on Tikal projects. We are a COR certified, safety oriented company building efficiently and safely on all of our sites. Norm Olson, the president of the company is a red seal carpenter, professional quantity surveyor and a gold seal certified estimator. He brings many years of project management experience to the team approach that Tikal maintains on all projects. Rounding out the core team are Shiro Olson, public relations and business development, Sherri Van Harmelen, project coordination, accounting and bookkeeping and Kristin Wisted-Thu, assistant administration & assistant project coordination. With experienced superintendents in the field, the construction process will be smooth when you partner with us.
